Of Comets Green and Art Unscene

~
Whew! It's been since October 20 that I posted here on Two Hours and my how the year has flown by. For instance, you might be interested in the revelation of first images of Comet Hartley (the 'green comet') today at 4:00 pm edt as presented by NASA:

COMET HARTLEY UPDATE: NASA's Deep Impact (EPOXI) probe is closing in on Comet Hartley 2 for a daring flyby on Nov. 4th. The small but active comet is full of surprises, with spinning jets, geysers of cyanide gas, and a strangely pickle-shaped core. Mission scientists expect to reveal first images from the flyby during a press conference on Thursday afternoon, around 4 pm EDT.

Tune into NASA TV to follow events live, and meanwhile read this story for a preview.

Happy Comet Viewing!

Shuttle Discovery exits California on a jet plane's back 9.20.09

~~~
Today there are major storm systems and heavy clouds bedeviling the state of Georgia, but that's okay because my home state isn't on NASA's Look Up list anyway. I now turn you over to...
Space Weather News for Sept 20, 2009
BE ALERT FOR THE SPACE SHUTTLE: Space shuttle Discovery is flying across the United States today atop a specially modified NASA 747 airliner. The trip is necessary because at the end of its last mission Discovery landed at Edwards Air Force Base in California and must now be returned to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Sky watchers along the flight path (particularly in Texas, Louisiana and Florida) should be alert for the extraordinary sight of a spaceship flying through blue sky on top of an airplane.
Check SpaceWeather for details.
FARSIDE SUNSPOT: NASA's STEREO-B spacecraft is tracking an active region over the sun's eastern horizon that could be a large, new-cycle sunspot. We can't yet see it from Earth, but the sun's rotation is turning the region toward us, and it could pop into view as early as Sept 21. Readers with solar telescopes should monitor the sun's eastern limb for developments.
Images and updates may be found at SpaceWeather.com.
Space Station and Shuttle Discovery now a double flyby!
~~~
A day late, but still fresh enough to find when to look up at the sky!

Space Weather News for Sept 8, 2009

DOUBLE FLYBY ALERT: On Tuesday, Sept 8 at 3:26 pm EDT, space shuttle Discovery undocked from the International Space Station (ISS). The two spaceships are now circling Earth side by side, forming a pair of bright lights in the night sky.

Check the SpaceWeather News to see if you are favored with a double flyby of your hometown before Discovery returns to Earth on Thursday.

And here's another heads-up: the Astrology of Pres. Obama's Address to a Joint Session of Congress 9.9.09 is now available for your consideration and contains dual chart images for 8 pm and 9 pm edt for Wednesday night in the Capitol Building.

Check out the chart's 'Fist Bump of God' pattern which points to orating Mercury, plus the rest of my notations, if you wish.

Astrology of the 1st Moon Landing

With today being the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11's First Moon Landing, July 20, 1969, which occurred during the Great Conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus, the planetary pair of scientific breakthroughs, discoveries, inventions, and lucky opportunities, a post is now available on the Astrology of it.

Jupiter/Uranus is the light bulb over the head of bright ideas!

The horoscope is set for the White House at the moment the Moon's position tallied with Jupiter/Uranus: 00Lib40, precisely conjunct America's natal Midheaven in the Sibly chart.

The main midpoint pictures are typed for you in English, if you'd like to check them out to taste a flavor of July 20, 1969.

And click to enlarge the chart for more details scribbled thereupon, for many factors are not mentioned in the post's text...such as the position of asteroid Apollo: 3Vir52, in the 4th house of the chart, as you'll discover.

You see, it's Monday ('Moon' day!), and my drafting table overflowing with drawings is calling my name... .. .

Flyby sends new photos from the Moon 6.23.09

From the Moon with love?

Space Weather News for June 22, 2009

LUNAR FLYBY: Tomorrow morning, NASA's LCROSS (Lunar CRater Observation and Sensing Satellite) spacecraft will fly by the Moon and send pictures back to Earth from only 9000 km above the lunar surface. The purpose of the maneuver is to put LCROSS in an elongated Earth orbit and position it for impact at the lunar south pole later this year.

Live video streaming of the flyby begins at approximately 5:20 AM PDT on Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Visit SpaceWeather.com for links and updates.

NEW SUNSPOTS: Since 2007, it has been unusual to see even a single spot on the sun. Today there are two. A pair of new-cycle sunspots is emerging in the sun's southern hemisphere. This is a good opportunity for readers with solar telescopes to witness sunspot genesis in action.

5 for Fashion: feathered icon 5/11/09

This detail from 5 for Fashion is ID'd as 'feather icon' and you might see why.

Check the sidebar for a larger detail which, if you dare to click, you'll be led to the full image of this recently completed drawing during a small thunderstorm that whisked through early this morning...pre-dawn.

At Stars Over Washington I'm posting the horoscope chartery for this afternoon's planned space shuttle Atlantis launch, Cape Canaveral, Florida.

And you'll wish to nab the launch's Sun-Moon blend details if you're curious.

Chart-and-launch-ruler, and planet associated with air travel, Mercury is Rx at Midheaven with Saturn 14Vir56 Rx in 1st house and thus rising soon after 2:01 pm edt.

This is not a chart I can like as far as leaving the surly bonds of earth so I'm only posting the chart image with a few very brief observations. Must ready myself for a family out-of-towner jaunt coming up this week so blogging time may lack and I want to post something about the May 14 'secret enclave' in Greece. I've been hearing cackles - I think they're about to egg us again.
